This is a beginner class taught on the lower American river in Rancho Cordova featuring class I moving water and one class II rapid. The class will cover fundamentals of navigating currents that will set you up with a strong start to your whitewater career. The class will be tuned towards playing in the rapid or staying on flatter water according to your ability and preference.
Curriculum: - Trip planning (river access, flow conditions) - pre trip Gear and Safety checks - Understanding hazards on the river - Basic skills for Controlling your boat - Learning Skills for moving water - Reading the flow of water and how to navigate the river.
Post trip Briefing - Address each students strengths - Address each students areas for improvement - Group question and answer with Instructor to reflect on the days trip.
